Sifu Ian started training in martial arts at an early age obtaining a black belt as a teenager. Over the years he’s studied a variety of martial arts including karate, Jiu jitsu, Aikido, Taekwondo, BJJ and Muay thai before finding Wing Chun in the year 2000. Since 2000 Sifu Ian has studied under Sifu Rawcliffe within the Ip Chun lineage including several trips to Hong kong to train with Si Gung Ip Chun himself.
Sifu Rawcliffe is the founder and head instructor of the Midlands Wing Chun kuen association where he has been teaching Wing Chun for over 30 years. As one of the preeminent Wing Chun instructors in Europe and a senior representative of Ip Chun Sifu Rawcliffe regularly visits our classes in Redditch to conduct assessments and seminars.
Si Gung Ip Chun
Si Gung Ip Chun is the eldest son of Ip Man, arguably the most famous ever Wing Chun practitioner. As a person of small frame Si Gung Ip Chun teaches a style of Wing Chun that emphasises technique, relaxation and speed. Now in his nineties Si Gung Ip chun is still training in Wing Chun reinforcing the point that studying Wing Chun is a lifelong journey.
